課程概述

西方當代人文思潮主要由後結構主義(poststructuralism)開始,整個歷程與內容大致反映在文學與文化理論上,並相當程度上影響了文學研究。本課程透過選讀的方式,引介並探討後結構主義以降的重要理論家及其著作。課程安排從後結構主義出發,後依序探討後現代主義(postmodernism)、後殖民主義(postcolonialism)、精神分析(psychoanalysis)、女性主義與性別研究(feminism and gender studies)、生命政治與全球化(biopolitics and globalization)、科學與科技乃至後人類研究(science, technology, and posthuman studies)。選讀的方式雖無法深入個別理論家思想的複雜之處,但將能提供一個整體理論的概觀以及演變狀況,並可為後續深入研究奠下基礎。 

課程目標
1. 引介當代西方文學與文化理論
2. 介紹當代西方思潮的遞變
3. 培養學生批判思考與閱讀理論論述的能力
4. 奠下學生後續進行理論研究的基礎
